We made it through another winter. God has once again given us the spring. Boston is a wonderful memory. The marathon in Illinois is over as is Mel’s ½. It was nice to see so many of you at the expo and at the race. Once again Mel delivered great weather. I wish the Illinois marathon could have had better weather. 64 degrees and 90% humidity at the start is not the conditions runners would hope for.
The Yankee Runners Boston experience is taking on a life of its own. We sent 27 runners to Boston this year and may send more next year. It has been suggested that runners who want to experience Boston but have been unable to qualify yet go and run the 5k the day before the marathon and just hang out to see what it is all about. I have not yet committed to returning but I must admit it would be hard to be here when so many of you will be there.
We are working on getting group leaders ready for the coming training year. We have many of our leaders back and have filled in some spots with some new ones that I’m sure will be great additions to our group.
Training for the Rock & Roll ½ starts on May 15, you are all welcome to join us and get a head start on marathon training.
Speed work starts on May 19 at Chicago Christian High School at 6:00pm. If you need directions let me know.
We will try to get dates for our events posted as soon as we can. I already know when our Astronaut egg extravaganza will be, July 17. Attendance is not required but expected.
I look forward to seeing all of you as the season gets going. |
